Explorers with K9 Tyro, assisting with the annual "Greenwich Police Day", held at the Public Safety Complex. The Greenwich Police Explorer/Cadet Program, located in Greenwich, Connecticut is a dedicated group of mainly high school aged youth (14-18) who further their interest in the field of public safety in emergency services. This program is run in association with the Boy Scouts of America and431596_236765833082062_1111364369_n the Northeast Regional Law Enforcement Education Association (NERLEEA) and is run by state certified Law Enforcement Officers of the Greenwich Police Department.

Members are taught both classroom and practical lessons on how a police department functions on a day to day basis, learning the role of a police officer and their daily tasks, along with the proper procedure and response to any incident a police officer may face. The Greenwich Police Cadet Program has traveled to both Regional and National Conferences and “Explorer/Cadet Academies” to further their knowledge in Law Enforcement and experience first-hand how a police officer receives his/her shield.

The Greenwich Police Explorers/Cadets are held to the highest standard to help the Greenwich community, and to assist when needed at an emergency or public event, (fireworks, parades, etc…). Several members have moved on and led careers in Law Enforcement, joined the armed forces for the United States, and have chosen law enforcement and public protection as a field of study.
